HOT LANES:

The I-95/I-395 High-Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes project is a public-private partnership to change the current HOV lanes into toll lanes, expand them to three lanes, and extend them further south into Stafford County.

Due to a lawsuit filed by Arlington County seeking a full environmental review of the project, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced a modified plan in 2011 to end the HOT lanes at Edsall Road in Fairfax County, just short of the border with the City of Alexandria.

Since that time, though, VDOT officials have continued to be interested in extending the HOT lanes further north on I-395 into Alexandria and Arlington. Parkfairfax remains concerned about such a proposal for a number of reasons detailed below.
